Here’s a closer look at the person who brings heart and hustle to SBT’s support team, making every student’s journey feel personal and empowering.

Adam Suleman: Leading with Empathy and Expertise

As Student Support Lead, Adam is the backbone of the learner experience at Security Blue Team. “I help support a wide range of students, from university graduates and military personnel to corporate professionals, cybersecurity specialists, and total newcomers curious about blue team roles,” he explains. His role involves overseeing the entire student experience on our platform, ensuring every learner feels supported and understood. “My work includes managing support operations, creating workflows and documentation, collaborating with other departments, and mentoring our support team to hit KPIs,” he says, adding, “I also try to add a touch of creativity wherever I can.”

For Adam, delivering exceptional experiences for prospective clients starts with empathy. “I try to imagine myself in the learner’s shoes, especially because I’ve been in that position myself,” he shares. “It’s all about clear, consistent communication, showing empathy, and being proactive in solving problems.” Whether it’s a first-time inquiry or a complex technical issue, Adam focuses on building trust. “It’s not just about answering questions. It’s about making the journey feel as smooth and personal as possible.”

A day in Adam’s work life is anything but predictable. “Every day brings something different,” he says. “Some days are smooth, others bring challenges that require fast prioritization and problem-solving.” Mornings typically start with reviewing support tickets and guiding his team to clear obstacles. Later, he might analyze feedback, discuss process improvements with colleagues, or engage with students on Discord. “I stay active in our Discord community, offering help and keeping a pulse on what students need,” he notes, always asking, “How can we improve this experience at scale, not just today but for the future?”

Adam’s connection to SBT runs deep. “I’d been following Security Blue Team for a while,” he recalls. As a Cybersecurity and Ethical Hacking graduate eager for hands-on experience, he found many platforms lacking structure. Then he discovered BTL1, SBT’s flagship program, recommended by industry experts. “The structured curriculum, the emphasis on practical labs, the 24-hour exam, and the vibrant community on Discord completely changed the way I approached learning,” he says. Passing the exam was a milestone, and joining SBT felt like a full-circle moment. “Support roles often don’t feel meaningful unless you believe in the product you’re supporting. But here, I knew the product had value. I’d experienced it myself.”

Background and passions

What does Adam love most about his job? “Helping students grow, solve problems, and succeed is always the highlight,” he says. “I love that I get to contribute to someone’s career journey, especially because I started in the exact same place.” He also values SBT’s tight-knit culture. “We have a high level of trust, and I’m proud to see how everyone is growing in their roles,” he shares. “When I joined, we were about 18 people. Now we’re over 40 and growing. Even with that growth, the culture remains supportive, creative, and people-first.”

Adam’s background fuels his passion. With a Computer Science degree specializing in Cybersecurity and Ethical Hacking, he went through a “monk phase” post-graduation, diving into projects and certifications. “It was exciting but also overwhelming, especially without industry connections,” he admits. BTL1’s structure, hands-on labs, and community changed everything. “Passing the exam gave me confidence and direction, and eventually, the opportunity to give back in the very environment that helped me grow,” he says.

Looking ahead, Adam’s ambitions are bold yet grounded. “I want to keep learning, especially around cloud security, which I’m exploring through side projects and certifications,” he shares. For SBT, he aims to enhance systems, grow the support team, and preserve our student-first values. “Long term, I’d love to mentor others entering the field and help shape how support and training intersect,” he adds.

Outside of work, Adam’s a vibrant mix of active and creative. “I stay active through rock climbing, tennis, and long walks in nature,” he says. He’s also a cinephile, drawn to old films, art galleries, and philosophy (especially Jung). Creative outlets like 3D printing, film photography, and guitar help him recharge, while his cat - “my full-time home office manager who mostly sleeps on the job” - keeps him company. As a kid, Adam’s dreams were as varied as his hobbies. “I wanted to be everything from an engineer to a film director to a tennis player to a world-traveling photographer,” he laughs. “That same curiosity and creativity still drive me today. Still working on the tennis serve, though.”

After a pause, he adds, “Or a Time Lord, like Doctor Who".
