Reema: Bringing the SBT Community to Life
Reema’s role is all about keeping SBT’s online presence vibrant and welcoming. “I’m the Social Media & Community Manager here at Security Blue Team, which basically means I’m the one behind all things socials, building strategies, creating content, keeping our online presence fresh, and connecting with our amazing community,” she says. She’s also a key part of our Social Employee Resource Group (ERG), where she helps strengthen our team’s sense of belonging. “I help bring people together, celebrate our culture, and make sure our team feels connected, even when we’re spread out,” she adds.
A Day in the Life
Her days are a lively mix of creativity and strategy. “No two days are ever quite the same, but they usually involve a healthy mix of replying to our community, creating content for socials, reviewing numbers to see how our posts are performing, and editing videos to keep things engaging,” Reema explains. For prospective clients, she’s always thinking about that first impression: “I’m constantly reviewing what’s out there in the big, ever-changing world of social media to make sure we’re putting our best foot forward.”
Why Reema Joined SBT
What drew Reema to SBT? It was a blend of opportunity and fit. “Honestly, the role felt like the perfect fit. I’d never worked in cybersecurity before, but I’ve always been curious about the industry and pairing that with a role that’s exactly what I was looking for felt like a win,” she shares. The inclusive culture sealed it: “As someone who is autistic, I’ve found SBT to be an incredibly autism-friendly environment, which has made such a difference in how comfortable and supported I feel at work.”
Loving the Role
That supportive vibe is a big part of why Reema loves her job. “I love the people I work with and the culture we’ve built, it feels collaborative, fun, and empowering all at once,” she says. “As an autistic person, I really appreciate how inclusive and understanding the team is, it’s one of the reasons I feel so at home here.” The chance to see her ideas come to life adds to the joy: “The creative side of my role, and the fact that my ideas are not only welcomed but actually acted on, makes every day feel rewarding.”
Background and Experience
Reema’s background set her up perfectly for this role. “I studied Media Production (BA) and Digital Marketing (MA), and during both degrees, I made sure to work alongside my studies,” she says. That hands-on experience, paired with academic know-how, gave her the confidence to jump into a role where creativity and strategy collide.
Looking Forward
Looking forward, Reema’s got big plans. “I’d love to grow our socials into the go-to place for cybersecurity knowledge,” she says. “There’s so much opportunity to make security engaging, accessible, and even fun for people.” On a personal note, she’s all about sharpening her skills and finding new ways to connect communities online, a passion that drives her every day.
Life Outside of Work
Outside of work, Reema finds balance in simple joys and adventure. “When I’m not working, I’m usually curled up with a good book and my cat, Mister, who takes his role as reading companion very seriously,” she laughs. She also loves travelling, “exploring new cities or getting lost somewhere off the beaten path,” and keeps active with gym sessions to stay energised.
As a kid, Reema’s dreams were a bit furrier. “When I was little, I wanted to be a vet because I loved animals,” she recalls. “But after crying for a solid month when our pet fish died, I realized that maybe I wasn’t cut out for the emotional side of the job. Let’s just say social media is a little easier on the heartstrings!” That’s Reema - finding humor and heart in every moment.
