Meet Jo: SBT’s Marketing Director Shaping Our Growth

Meet Jo Morley, Security Blue Team’s Marketing Director, who leads campaigns, content, and growth initiatives across B2B and B2C. She shares her passion for practical learning, the energy of a fast-growing company, and how her 30+ years of marketing experience helps position SBT for its next stage of development.

Meet Jo: SBT’s Marketing Director Shaping Our Growth

At Security Blue Team (SBT), reaching more learners and organisations with high-quality cybersecurity training requires clear strategy and creative execution. In this Faces of SBT feature, we’re shining a spotlight on Jo Morley, our Marketing Director, whose experience and leadership help guide the company’s marketing direction and support its continued growth.

For those who have seen Jo’s work through campaigns, content, or strategic decisions, this is a chance to learn more about the person behind it. Whether you’re part of the SBT community or simply interested in life at the company, here’s Jo in her own words.

Jo: Leading Marketing Strategy and Growth

Jo’s role sits at the intersection of strategy and delivery. She explains: “I’m the Director of Marketing, working with a great marketing team across both B2C and B2B sectors which includes campaigns, product launches content development, social media, and lead generation. My role is really about helping shape where we’re going, making sure our marketing supports the wider business goals, and helping position us for the next stage of growth as the company continues to evolve.”

A Day in Marketing at SBT

Jo thrives on the variety her role brings.

“No two days are ever really the same, which is probably one of the things I enjoy most,” she explains. “A typical day could start with some focus time, working out longer-term strategy and plans, but the context can switch quickly and I’ll suddenly be working with one of the team reviewing content, campaigns, or implementation plans.”

She enjoys “the variety and the balance between longer-term thinking and working with the team and colleagues to move things forward day to day as the business continues to grow.”

Why SBT?

What drew Jo to Security Blue Team was the combination of purpose and potential.

“I remember when I applied for the role I did so much research before I met with Josh the CEO for my first interview,” she says. “What stood out to me was the practical approach to learning and the community around the business and that focus on helping people build real skills and capability.”

She was also drawn to the ambition behind the company. “Josh has built something really impressive in a few short years, and it was clear there was a lot of energy, momentum, and opportunity to help shape the next stage of growth.”

What Jo Enjoys Most

For Jo, the best parts of the role come down to people and pace.

“The people, the team and colleagues I work with and the variety of being in a business that is growing fast,” she explains. She also enjoys “the mix of strategy, creativity, and problem-solving that comes with the role.”

“There’s always something new to learn, adapt or challenges to overcome,” she adds. “I like growth and change and this role definitely provides that on a daily basis.”

Jo’s Background

Jo brings extensive experience to her role.

“I’ve worked in marketing and communications for more than 30 years across B2B and B2C for technology and large consumer brands,” she explains.

Earlier in her career, she worked in fast-growing technology and cybersecurity businesses before jointly running a marketing consultancy for around 10 years, supporting organisations with strategy, growth, and communications.

She has also worked with major brands, helping lead teams through challenging periods where customer perception and trust mattered significantly. More recently, her focus has largely been on scale-ups and technology businesses.

Looking Ahead

Jo’s ambitions focus on sustainable, meaningful growth.

“I’d love to see the business continue to grow, while keeping the things that make it different, particularly the practical approach to learning and the strong community around it,” she explains.

“There’s a huge opportunity ahead and it’s exciting to be part of that journey.”

Personally, she says she enjoys “building teams, helping businesses grow, and supporting people to develop and progress in their careers.”

“At this stage in my career, I’m much more interested in doing interesting work with good people and continuing to learn and grow myself along the way.”

Outside of Work

Swimming has become a major part of Jo’s life.

“Swimming is probably the biggest one,” she says. “I returned to swimming in my 50s after a gap of nearly 20 years, and it’s become a huge part of my life again.”

She swims both in pools and outdoors and is currently training for long-distance events, including an English Channel relay and swimming Coniston again this summer.

“I love it, there is calmness to swimming it's just you and the water and you don't really think about much else,” she explains. “Plus I'm part of some fantastic swimming communities which has been great.”

Childhood Dreams

“When I was really young, I watched Blue Peter and for years I wanted to be a puppy walker for Guide Dogs because I loved dogs and liked the idea of helping people at the same time,” Jo shares.

She remembers holding small tabletop sales in the street to raise money for Guide Dogs and the RSPCA. Later in life, she went on to sponsor many Guide Dog puppies and even visited their centre in Leamington Spa on several occasions.

Jo also grew up around family businesses. “My family had a hotel and later a sports shop, so from a very early age I was helping out and seeing what running a business actually looked like day to day.”

“Looking back, that probably shaped me more than I realised at the time.”

Jo’s Role Within SBT

Jo is a key part of SBT’s leadership team, working closely with the marketing team and colleagues across the business to drive campaigns, content, and strategic growth.

Her experience helps balance creative execution with long-term vision, ensuring SBT continues to communicate its practical, community-focused approach effectively as the company scales.

She brings energy, strategic clarity, and a genuine appreciation for people and growth that reflects the culture at the heart of SBT.
