Security Blue Team has just added to its range of practical blue team training with a new course, Ransomware: Negotiation & Threat Intelligence. Almost a year in the making, the course was developed by Joshua Beaman, CEO and lead defensive trainer at SBT, alongside a third-party course author and SME.
Priced at just £299, the course is designed to equip professionals with comprehensive knowledge and the practical skills required to handle ransomware incidents effectively.
Of developing this first-of-its-kind training, Joshua says: “Ransomware is a horrendous scenario to be in and, in the worst cases, negotiation becomes essential. Amidst the chaos, with everyone juggling multiple IT responsibilities and addressing crises from all directions, this can be especially challenging. That’s why we’ve meticulously developed this course, to prepare people with the skills to tackle a ransomware scenario should it ever happen.”
What the course covers
During the course, students will hone negotiation tactics, learn psychological strategies, effective communication skills, and counter-offer techniques. Real-world case studies and practical exercises ensure that students leave the course with the skills needed to navigate and negotiate ransomware incidents, safeguarding their organizations from this pervasive threat.
An exciting element of the training is its capstone project, an advanced AI-driven ransomware simulation tool designed to apply communication skills and ransomware negotiation tactics, both from the client and threat actor perspectives.
Built with real-world ransomware negotiation data, the simulation offers an unparalleled, hands-on experience that helps students to understand cyber extortion tactics, communication patterns, and strategies used by some of the world’s most notorious ransomware groups.
For the ultimate taste of a realistic ransomware incident, students will engage in a step-by-step negotiation scenario based on historical attack data, including ransom demands, double extortion tactics, and psychological pressure techniques.
Vendor partnerships
Security Blue Team developed some of the training materials with support from two established vendors, Validin and Crystal Intelligence.
An infrastructure search enumeration tool, Validin aided with the creation of two practical labs (one tracking Black Basta, and the other tracking Black Suit).
Kenneth Kinion, Validin’s founder, says: "Partnering with Security Blue Team is a natural fit for Validin. We share a commitment to providing cutting-edge training, knowledge, and resources to the cybersecurity community. By integrating Validin's platform into the course, we're giving students a unique opportunity to develop real-world skills in ransomware infrastructure analysis and negotiation."
Crystal Intelligence is a leading blockchain intelligence firm empowering financial institutions, law enforcement and regulators with real-time blockchain analysis, investigative and compliance solutions.
During the course, students will learn about Crystal's Blockchain Monitoring Solution with Entity Wallet Analyses. The course labs will shape their wider understanding of the ransomware and cybercrime ecosystem better, adding value and real-world experience to the overall learning journey.
Navin Gupta, CEO at Crystal Intelligence, commented on the collaboration: “We are thrilled to work with Security Blue Team to equip professionals with the tools and knowledge they need to combat illicit activities in the blockchain space. This collaboration ensures students gain hands-on experience in analyzing ransomware-related transactions, preparing them to tackle real-world challenges in crypto compliance and investigations."
Ransomware: Negotiation and Threat Intelligence is available to purchase now at a special launch price of £199, valid until March 19th.
